Living History and Reenacting Swap Meet

Lakewood, WA – On November 16, Historic Fort Steilacoom Association will host a Living History and Reenacting Swap Meet.  The event will feature original and reproduction items, spanning the distance from the American Revolutionary War through the present-day Gulf Wars. U.S. Army Barracks: Housing the Frontier Army

Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

Living History Open House

Lakewood, WA – On July 13, Historic Fort Steilacoom will host the annual Living History Open House. Admission during the Open House is free, but donations are appreciated. The museum will open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Guests may begin their visit at the interpretive center in Quarters 4, where you can view and excellent diorama of the historic post. The diorama provides a great glimpse into how the fort appeared during the 1850s occupation.  Also on display in Quarters 4 are exhibits displaying items and uniforms used at the fort from 1849-68. Independence Day Celebration in Steilacoom

Historic Fort Steilacoom participates in the Town of Steilacoom’s annual celebration of our nation’s independence by having an information booth at the street fair next to Town Hall. Stop by from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Thursday, July 4th to take a picture with living historians in period clothing. Donations are appreciated.

Arrival of the Army in Puget Sound Region

Lakewood, WA – On Sunday May 19, 2019, Tom Melberg will speak on Captain Bennett Hill who led Company M of the 1st Artillery Regiment establishing Fort Steilacoom in August 1849.  This presentation will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Quarters 2 of the Historic Fort Steilacoom Museum.  Fort Steilacoom will offer complimentary admission to the lecture and guided tours will be available for the standard fee.
